The ever lovely Sarah Fielke released her latest book, Little Quilts back in September. She co-wrote this book along with Amy Lobsinger. The book includes 15 adorable mini quilts, perfect for swapping with your friends! And who doesn’t like a teeny tiny mini quilt? No one who is normal anyway, they are so cute!
As part of the book launch, Sarah hosted an international quilt swap through instagram – you can check out the hashtag #littlequiltsswap to see all the sweet quilts that have been made. I think the hexagons with the bee you see on the cover was the most popular quilt, there are so many buzzing around on the feed…
I was lucky enough to receive a lovely partner in Belinda, who is a fellow aussie and I know online through several social media. She is great value, so I wanted to give her something that was especially special. Because I am still twelve years old on the inside, I write my name on everything. So, I did the same for Miss Belle. I really enjoyed making this mini, with all it’s lovely improv trees and letters. The letters were great! I just went for it and am thrilled with how it came out. . Sarah actually teaches a very similar improv quilt in her Craftsy class, Big Techniques From Small Scraps, which is such a great class watch. I finished it off using the fast and easy hand binding tutorial, with my favourite magenta perle thread. And I may just have snuck some hand quilting in there too..
Dontcha think it’s adorable? Belle tells me she loves it too, which is the best part.
How about you, Have you taken part in any swaps this year?
You can purchase your very own copy of Little Quilts using this link. And, did you know you can take a class anytime in the comfort of your own home with Sarah? Her Craftsy class, Big Techniques From Small Scraps is jam packed with techniques, including needle turn appliqué, improvised piecing, working with wedge rulers and more!
I love it!! I love all the bits of it, and I thank you for tailoring it just to me. I shed some happy tears when I received it. xxx
